When deleting is the right choice
Delete tasks that should never have existed: a typo, a duplicate you created by accident, a test entry. Deleting keeps the list clean and removes the item for good.
Delete or Won't do?
If you chose not to pursue a real task, Won't do is usually better, because it keeps a record and lets you restore it. Delete when you do not need that history.
A worked example
You captured "Call Sam" twice. Long-press the extra copy, tap Delete and confirm. The list is clean and the original task is untouched. If you were not sure the second one was a duplicate, merge or compare them on web first.
Safety tips
- Read the confirmation. If a dialog appears, check the task name before you confirm.
- Do not use delete to hide work you are avoiding. If a task keeps getting postponed, ask why before removing it.
Common mistakes
- Deleting a task that holds notes or a link you still need. Convert it to a note instead.
- Deleting a recurring or parent task without checking what depends on it.
